Summary of the May Student’s Meeting, 2013

May.3.2013

The Roots & Shoots March student monthly meeting took place on Friday, May 3rd. A total of 79 students from 44 schools attended the meeting.

We would like to give a special thanks to the main organizers of the “Miss Earth” pageant for their participation! Miss Earth is one of the world’s four most prominent beauty contests.  Since first being held in the Philippines in 2001, it has now grown to be the most influential and famous beauty contest after Miss Universe, Miss World, and Miss International.

The Beauty Pageant’s organizer kicked-off the meeting with photos of all their previous Miss Earth contests and walked us through requirements for being Shanghai’s candidate, and selection standards to become Miss Earth; this required a certain amount of community service. Students gave Miss Earth a warm welcome and she fondly shared her experience as a contestant and work publicizing environment protection and public welfare. Students who attended this meeting now have all of the information they need to enter a beauty contest! Below, lucky R&S students in a group picture with Miss Earth.
