KidStrong丨Our Target: No Cavity

On Nov 20^th 2015, fourteen volunteers from Henry Schein and three dentists invited by Henry Schein went to Xishan Kindergarten to fluoridize for the children of the high classes.

Xishan Kindergarten is one of KidStrong program partner schools. All the students are migrant children. According to the investigation of KidStrong program, the children have high cavity rate. However, the parents don’t pay much attention to their children’s dental hygiene. Therefore, besides dental hygiene education to the children and their parents, we collaborate with Henry Schein for this fluoridizing activity.

The volunteers of Henry Scheine were divided to three groups including preparation, fluoridizing assistance, and post fluoridizing. The preparation group taught kids to brush their teeth properly, and then the kids brush teeth on site to make sure their mouth is clean for fluoridizing; the assistance group helps dentists to prepare the materials and keep the waiting kids quiet; the post fluoridizing group leads kids who received fluoridizing leave and help children to relieve nervous after fluoridizing.

The activity was quick and success. It took only one and half hours for more than one hundred children to receive fluoridizing. We hope that the children not only received fluoridizing but also awareness of dental hygiene  was raised through this activity.
