KidStrong|Prescription Eyeglasses for Migrant Children

Dec.26.2022

Vision care is the important part of KidStrong Program. KidStrong Program initiates vision care education activities in partner schools and provides free prescription eyeglasses for the 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade students.

Conducting a visual test for migrant children is a priority for the autumn semester as ever. Although the year of 2022 was severely impacted by COVID-19, the KidStrong Program has successfully conducted the visual tests and given out the prescription eyeglasses to the students who need vision correction. 2,962 students were given eye screenings in advance by school. With the continuous support of Shanghai Ren’Ai hospital, 616 third to fifth graders, form our four partner migrant elementary schools, received professional computer optometry and precise optic examination and got prescription eyeglasses.

However, wearing eyeglasses does not mean that eye vision will keep the current level. The KidStrong program taught the students the correct way of wearing eyeglasses and encouraged the students keep caring about their eye vision while they were receiving their prescription eyeglasses.
