Organic Garden Training – 2014 Autumn

On October 19^th 2014, 20 mentors of Shanghai Roots & Shoots YES & OG Programs traveled to BIOFarm Shanghai and started a splendid day of Organic Garden Training. The training courses include a quick tour in the farm, cultivating skills training, plant diseases & pests prevention and composting.

Finished introducing agriculture and spice areas in the morning, BIOFarm provided mentors with organic food lunch. Even girl mentors ate up the organic food. After meal, with the introduction by BIOFarm technical supervisor Yuanyuan, our mentors visited greenhouse planting areas and learned the connotation of Organic Agriculture and its difference from Technological Agriculture. They also acquired basic planting skills and discussed a popular topic on GM agriculture with Yuanyuan. Undoubtedly, we enjoyed a special meal including ‘fig rosemary ice-cream’ in BIOFarm restaurant by the end of the day. Our mentors will share what they have learned from BIOFarm with students of OG in the near future.
