EVENT DETAILS:
We were asked to wear school uniforms during the weekdays. However, a large amount of schoolmates were perplexed about how to deal with the idle school uniforms. Thus, at the beginning of this semester, WFLMS Roots & Shoots started preparing for the school uniform recycling project.
Last October, we held the first activity of uniform recycling project. We contacted the student union and spread the information via broadcast, notice board, and rising-flag ceremony. We commended our schoolmates for supporting our activity and donating their school uniforms to our cause. On October 29th, some of our club members arrived at the lobby and waited for the participants. When they arrived, we offered them small trinkets, and we wanted to motivate our peers to take part in the activity. The activity lasted for more than half an hour. In the end, we received about 35 uniforms with different models. For people who were unable to bring their school uniforms, we held the second round on November, 18th. With the help of the club supervisor, we received a considerable amount of uniforms. This was also made possible by our fellow seniors and alumni.
Many graduated students stated that they were baffled on what they should do with their old uniforms. Fortunately, our school held a reunion meeting for the alumni and we seized the opportunity to make our project known to them. They seemed very eager to help and by November 26th, we received an exponential amount of uniforms from our seniors.
We held donation activities for a total of 3 days, and received more than 180 school uniforms. An exponential amount of Winter uniforms will be donated to primary schools in rural area by an organization, and the rest uniforms are going to be recycled material.
