KidStrong | KidStrong Summer Camp 2014
Jun.30.2014
Kidstrong recently held a two-day summer camp for 21 underprivileged students of five partner migrant schools.
Starting June 28, students were treated to shows, museums, movies, tours and a pottery lesson.
The first night was spent at the ERA – Intersection of Time show, followed by a trip to the Shanghai Science and Technology Museum the next day. Guides at the museum delighted the children with wildlife from around the world in Animal World, explored the magic of science in Children’s Rainbow Land, and watched the IMAX film “To the Arctic.” It’s this kind of exposure that can stimulate the children’s interest in the natural world, and in science and technology.
That evening, continuing the theme of the discovery, the children visited the Shanghai Zoo. They found that there is a whole different natural world that awakens when the sun goes down.
On the final day, June 30, the children were taught about the food pyramid, and the importance of having a well-balanced diet. This was followed with a screening of the film “Bambi 2”, which encouraged children to face life with a positive attitude. As the final activity, the children explored their creative sides with at trip to the ceramic painting studio.
Judging by the amount of laughter over the two days and nights, the children really enjoyed the camp, and will surely take away great memories of the adventure.
