Cummins Volunteers Help With Harvest
Jun.24.2013
After working hard for a couple of months, the Cummins volunteers finally welcomed the harvest. On June 24, 2013, 15 volunteers from Cummins went to the organic garden in Jingcai Middle School (North campus) to pick the herbs. They all tasted the happiness of the harvest joyfully.
The past few rainy days did not stop the growth of the plants in the garden. Herbs such as mint and basil grew fast under in the sun and rain. The whole garden smelled wonderful of the herbs. The volunteers from Cummins were not afraid of the muddy ground and hand-picked the leaves of the herbs.
There are ways to eat herbs. Making lemon tea and milk tea are both great options. In the hot summer time, a few mint leaves and a piece of lemon soaked in soda water makes a refreshing drink.
The volunteers from Cummins also took home some mint seedlings to grow in their office space.
The Organic Garden Program thanks Cummins for its long-term support.
