The Spring Volunteer Baking Party 2014
May.18.2014
On May 18 2014, a baking party was held in the R&S office. 13 participants learned how to bake three kinds of simple and delicious desserts.
At first, an instructor demonstrated how to make a sponge cake, the most difficult kind to make. We had to pay attention though that not only did egg whites and yolks need to be separated but also beating egg whites demanded a quick speed and arm strength. Next, Minying showed how to make brownies and mango balls, the relatively simple ones. Although not many skills were required, every step needed to be done with carefulness.
Next, it was high time trainees should make desserts themselves. They were divided into several groups and started to make the dessert they liked. After a while, a delicious home-made dessert was ready. What a proud moment it was! And there were some interesting episodes during the process. For example, someone forgot to put bread flour when making brownies and the batter became chocolate cream.
After four hours, the baking party came to an end. All the participants took photos together. The volunteers not only enjoyed the experience of being a baker and made the desserts they liked, but also made more friends and appreciated the value of working together.
