Air Liquide Dental Education on Maqiao Happy Activity Day

On May 20th, 2015, around twenty volunteers from Air Liquide Global E&C Solutions Shanghai Co., Ltd went to Maqiao Migrant School in Minhang district at noon. Throughout the afternoon, the volunteers taught dental hygiene classes and led after class activities.

The Air Liquide volunteers had prepared PPTs for the dental hygiene lessons and had practiced reciting each lesson beforehand, so the classes ran quite smoothly. Some students were so captivated by the classes that they didn’t want them to end, and afterwards, the students understanding of the material taught seemed very clear. In each class, the volunteers emphasized different ideas and adopted various teaching methods appropriate for students’ from grades 1 to 5. For younger students, volunteers used a video called “Big Tiger without Teeth” to teach students the importance of brushing teeth; they also used songs and gestures to teach the proper way of brushing. For older students, the key points emphasized were tooth replacement, dental hygiene habits, and healthy diets, which were taught through case studies and playing games of “health chess”.

After the dental classes, volunteers led various activity groups for making handworks, painting, hula hooping, and dancing.
