Part A: a review and analysis of the incident
On April 2nd, a regular Greenday club meeting was held. By watching a few videos and news report, our club members got a better understanding of the tragic incident in the Xi An kindergarten. There was a heated discussion about why this happened. We all agreed that the kindergarten teachers’ lack of medical common sense was one of the contributing factors. We also held the belief that in the future, with better medical knowledge, we can prevent such tragdeies from happening.
Then, we had a Q&A session, “Are you a qualified teacher/parent?”. Question like ” how to deal with a fish bone stuck in the throat?” ” what to do when burnt?” are being raised. Since the member who provide these questions is quite an expert in this field, the questions were a great challenge to most of us. Yet, a few members were rather familiar with those knowledge, due to a long experience as patients. The activity came to a peak when all of the members are highly involved in this heated discussion, while gaining a bunch of medical knowledge.
Part B: a Q&A session in the hall
During the unique club festival at our school, we held a Q&A session about medical knowledge in the hall. Most questions raised were close to our daily lives, such as” how to cope with food poison?”, “which kinds of food are not suitable to eat together?”, “how to deal with expired drugs?”. After the Q&A session, some of our knowledgable club members gave a quick lecture about the correct answers and reasons. There was also some slides shown on the screen giving information about some basic medical facts. Lots of students commented that this was a great event which was quite helpful and interesting to learn more about medicine and health.
