Adopt love to your home!
May.15.2015
Have you ever seen a dog walking alone across heavy traffic? Have you ever noticed an abandoned dog struggling for survival? I believe that there are lots of people willing to adopt them, and we are all engaged now.
Ms. Wang is an animal-lover; with the support of volunteers, she established the Ms. Wang Animal Shelter. The Shelter saves homeless dogs and cats, and provides them with food and shelter. However, the space of the Shelter is limited, and with an increasing number of incoming animals, the operation and expenses have become tough for Ms. Wang to manage.
On May 9th, 2015, Shanghai Roots & Shoots, in cooperation with the Ms. Wang Animal Shelter, held a Rainbow Party on the Adoption Day at Daliah restaurant. Due to a plenitude of preparation and advertising, the restaurant was soon filled with animal-lovers. The volunteers assisted by selling cupcakes and biscuits; they introduced the activity and organizations to passers-by; they also helped take care of the dogs and comforted them. All the products sold that day were accompanied with a donation of food enough to feed a dog for one day, giving a chance to make a difference for those who couldn’t take one home.
People in nearby neighborhoods also brought their own dogs to the restaurant. They shared tips with each other about feeding and raising their dogs, while their dogs played with others. People with an interest in adoption consulted with volunteers from the adoption center, others just came to play with the dogs. However, due to previous abusive experiences, some dogs seemed frightened, and even trembled when people touched them. Although these dogs were reluctant to get along with people, volunteers were patient and stroked them carefully and gently. Gradually, the dogs became relaxed and began to play around with others.
As a result of the event, 12 homeless dogs have been successfully adopted. Moreover, three dogs’ life expenses have been sponsored by animal-lovers. Seeing the satisfactory result, volunteers were all content that their efforts paid off. There are still many abandoned animals, but our love and desire to help will never be exhausted!
