Basketball, Basketball, We Love Basketball
Sep.28.2014
On September 27, 20 basketball talented students from Shanghai Limin Migrant School had a great event with the volunteers from UPS. The event was organized by KidStrong program staff and volunteers. The basketball game consisted of three parts: basketball warm-up competition, basketball match, and basketball carnival.
During the basketball warm-up competition, 20 Limin School students and 20 UPS staff were divided into four groups to complete four games. Each student earned points according to how the team finished the games. Two basketball matches were held between teams: Team 1 vs Team 3, Team 2 vs Team 4. Some rules were applied to ensure active participation of the students. For example, each team sent 5 members to play in the match including at least 3 students, and each adult member could only shoot three times. What surprised us the most was that the students were great basketball players: skills such as dribbling and passing the ball were good. Participants who did not play joined in the basketball carnival – a combination of some basket-ball related games to earn points. Each participant received a prize based on the points they earned.
The students had great fun that day. They found that they had fallen in love with basketball.
