Competing for Outstanding Recognition, Deloitte Impact Day
On Nov 11th 2011, Deloitte Impact Day was held at the Shanghai Zoo. Shanghai R&S, working as Deloitte’s cooperative partner, dispatched 21 volunteers and 3 employees together with 354 Deloitte workers to oversee the day’s activities, such the Zoo Cleaning and the Treasure Hunt.
More than 300 of Deloitte workers were divided into green, pink, and orange groups; each group was then further divided into ten small groups. At 1:30 when the groups were divided and instructions were given out, the first crew was ready to compete for the best person competition. Under the guide of their group leader, they had to complete their goal under one hour’s time. The goals included finding the mascot, taking the photo with mascot, writing down what creature was in the 4th level of food chain store, picking up rubbish, finding the volunteers in different areas, answering questions about animals, and calculating their carbon footprint. At 2:20pm and 3:20pm, the second and third crew would respectively compete for the winner placement.
At 2:30 pm, the volunteers started to became much busier when the Deloitte workers of the first crew gradually got to the end line. The leader gave their challenge card to the judge for the point tally, while the other group members intensely shared their personal experience with each other. According to the rules, the group would be presented on the winner list if they finished their goals within the range of one hour, and the winning group would receive an excellent prize. Soon after, the conclusion came out. The Panda Team of the first group won the first place prize. Although prize did not seem to be very expensive, it was a symbol of the effort and wisdom of all the group members. The second and third crew also experienced enjoyment of success in their sense of adventure.
We believe that today’s treasure hunt was not only for fun. Environmental protection does not concern one’s age or gender, or even their marriage status; if you care for environmental protection in your heart, then the contest does not matter at all.
