The Roots & Shoots Group of Qingpu High School was established in December 2004. It is a comprehensive environmental protection group set up by the students  voluntarily. The spirit of the group is “every individual matters; every individual has a role to play; every individual can make a difference”, calling on each member to protect the environment, protect animals, care for the community. The group has formed a pattern of “using project study to drive the development of curriculum and subject to project and to explore”, and has achieved outstanding results. The excellent projects include “Keep the toad from table” and “Organic farming” which won the award for Chinese youth Toyota environmental protection competition. The students have won city-level awards in various competitions and activities for more than 40 times. Qingpu Roots & Shoots group has been rated as “Top ten green community in Shanghai” and “Excellent high school student group in Shanghai”.
