ShanghaiMinhangZhuanqiaoPrimary School is the first to be awarded the title of “Model school of Juvenile Ecological Moral Education”, “The Top Ten Model School of Shanghai Wildlife Protection Characteristic Education”, “ShanghaiGreenSchool”, “The Demonstration School of the UNESCO ESD Sustainable Development Project”. “Roots and shoots” group of Shanghai Minhang Zhuanqiao Primary School was founded in December 2008. The thirty group members are the students of Grade Four. The teacher of this group, Mr Zhu Qiong is the first teacher in Shanghai who was awarded the honor of  “Subaru Ecological Protection Award”, “Top Ten Model Teacher of Shanghai Wildlife Protection Characteristic Education “, “the Top Ten  Star of Environmental Protection” in Minhang district.

Under the guidance of the volunteers of Shanghai “Roots and Shoots” and teachers, the group has carried out the activities in wild animal protection, environmental education and natural experience in seven consecutive years. The members of the group have represented this school to participate in municipal and district activities and competitions with remarkable achievements. In July，2014, the “Roots and Shoots” group members, Sun Ruiqi and Liu Chunxi represented Shanghai to attend the “Universal Natural Day” global finals in Chongqing. Their project, “Ever-changing Beaks ” won the first prize in board demonstration section! In November 2014, Mr Zhu Qiong was honored the “Outstanding Instructor Award” by “Shanghai roots and shoots”.
