U012-Shanghai Ocean University-Round Earth

Shanghai Ocean University was established in 1912 in Jiangsu. It was originally named as Shanghai Fisheries University, and now it changed its name to Shanghai Ocean University. Situated by the East Sea, it became one of the most influential and famous universities in the country.

Shanghai Ocean University Roots and Shoots group was established in 2004. Led by Roots and Shoots, our group took part in various interesting environmental campaigns in this period of time, including cartridge, exchanging used yellow pages for plants, Eco-Audit Evaluation program, and Environmental Carnivals, etc. In the campus, our members also actively participate in many events such as “Welcome the Green”, Nanhui Peach Flower Festival Environment Trip, Shanghai Wild Animal Park volunteer, new campus tree planting, batteries recycling, etc.

Through these various activities, we learned about a lot of professional knowledge about environmental protection, gained some useful experience from Roots and Shoots groups of other schools and opened up our eyes to a larger world. Through the Roots and Shoots activities, we hope to recruit more students in our cause and influence more and more people—start from basics and care for the environment. Our slogan is “Round Us and Round Earth”.
