Shanghai University is part of the “211 Project”. Its president is Mr. Weichang Qian, the well-known educator, scientist, social activist, former Vice chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference and academician of Chinese Academy of Sciences.
A group of young and energetic university students founded the student environment organization—Green Union Roots & Shoots group, short for GU. GU Roots & Shoots members are from various colleges and majors in Shanghai University. People gathered together for the passion for green environment and established this group to contribute to the cause of caring for the planet.
As a newly founded environmental group, GU Roots & Shoots group holds the purpose of “care for the campus environment, green civilization, animals and lives”. Through community service, volunteer work and many other forms of service, we are dedicated to the cause, and manage to promote the campaigns outside the campus and make the green cause part of our life. Although we were newly founded, every member of our group believed in the idea that as long as we stand together and work hard in every step, our planet will become more and more beautiful!
