Two Lectures for GIST Patients

On June 5, 2015, GIST Home of Hope held two lectures for GIST patients at the conference room of Shanghai Pharmaceutical Profession Association. The counseling specialist, Mr. Yan made a speech with the title ‘Life is Changeable, Keep mental health in your mind’. He explained the role of positive emotions in recovery. Some patients shared their thoughts on this topic. A patient said that he faces life with a smile and always tries to help others. This life style brings him happiness.

In the afternoon, Dr. Huang Chen from Shanghai No. 1 Hospital gave a lecture on Gastrointestinal Stromal Tumor (GIST), presenting its definition and origins, the treatment options, surgery procedures and target therapy as well as the recurrence risk scales. Dr. Huang also introduced the combined endoscopic and laparoscopic surgery (CELS) used in GIST. The patients have learnt a lot. After the lecture, Dr. Huang stayed to answer all the questions.
