EVENT DETAILS:

June 1st was children’s day . Our union held our first union show on the main street of the School’s neighborhood area. It was called the Green Teenager’s Activity . This activity was held in the form of games. Our aim was to spread a greener living style and environmental friendly ideas to others. We hoped it could advertise for our newly -organized union.  It was big task ,so we all worked together. First, one of our members, Chencheng , who was in charge of the posters ,designed the publicity poster. The others were busy designing the game rules, questions and the gifts. We’d like to thank not only the economy supports given by the Students’Union, but also the Shanghai R&S Office for their supporting tools ,such as T-shirts, advertising boards ect. Also, we’d like to thank our tutor Da xia for her support that day.  The games were separated into 3 parts:Herbal Recognition,Sign Color Recognition and the Scientific Q&S . Herbal Recognition is a game testing how much the students know about the plants and flowers around us. To make it more challenging,we chose some highly mistaken flowers, such as Magnolia,Magnolia grandiflora and magnolia flower. We also chose some common plants such as Peony, Morning glory and Peach blossom. Sign Color Recognition, which was designed by student Gu , aimed at determining how much we knew about the signs around us. We picked ten common signs and made them grey. We then made some colored boards ,and asked the players choose the correct color within a limitted time. The last part was the Scientific Q&S, which we planned together. Our idea came from our main union project-the Eco-school. Upon observation, we understood which scientific points we needed to expand on, such as the types of the light balls, the layers of the window glass ect. We felt that we can spread this knowledge to the others. We hope it can improve our living standards, reduce the waste of money and also decrease our Carbon footprints.

To sum up,the activity was quite successful. In the hour,we got more than 100 players, and they all get their presents back. There are still the following things that we need to do better next time.

1.Not enough members

We will improve in the next semester, after we get the new members joined us.

2.Herbal Recognition is too hard

Because many players said that they thought the Herbal Recognition was the toughest one, we decided to change it from part 1 to part 3. Also,to save time, we may open up more playing tables when we design this type of game next time.

3.About the members

Because the tight schedule, many members showed confusion to the game rules .Because it was the first time we held the show, they were less experienced with sudden problems.

4.About the rehearsal

Because of the short prepration time,we didn’t do a rehearsal before the show. This caused a series of problems at the beginning of the show. But everything has it’s first time. From now on, I think we will do better.

Lastly,I think it was a successful show because the players enjoyed the game, and we are happy and satisfied with our outcome. Therefore, we will continue work hard, and let others get to know us better!
