2018 Shanghai Roots & Shoots’ Animal Adoption Day

Jul.13.2018

The pouring June rain can’t stop passion from finding the stray dogs a home. On the morning of 30th of June, 2018, heavy rain cascaded down on various districts, while a myriad of people traveled from all directions to one location. Who were they? Where were they going? What were they going to do?

Shanghai Roots & Shoots and Pujiang Aunt Wang’s Animal Shelter jointly held their second dog adoption activity, held in the center green field, Yikang Community, Jing’an District.

In unfavorable weather conditions, there were still high expectations for dogs to find a new home. Fortunately, the rain eventually came to a stop as the volunteers led the dogs to play on the grass and interact with passers-by under the sun and rainbow.

There were many other attractions including an interactive photo-taking wall, a bazaar area, a knowledge contest and a DIY dog toy area. Many children participated, which improved their scientific knowledge of dog keeping, taught them how to tie a rope knot and warmed hearts buying charity products.

The day passed by in a flash, and in the end 16 dogs were adopted! If considering adoption,  Pujiang Aunt  Wang’s Animal Shelter has plenty of great advice.

Great thanks goes out to all of the staff in Shanghai Roots & Shoots, and Pujiang Aunt Wang’s Animal Shelter for their hard work. The support of the Communist Party branch and the property of Yikang Community is also much appreciated. The actions of all the participants truly polish the slogan “Don’t buy, adopt”. Love supports the stray dogs, and these lovely dogs certainly felt the passion and warmth.
