Aug.2.2021
On July 31, a Saturday morning, 101 volunteers from Shanghai Roots & Shoots joined in the beach clean-up and toiled on the river and sea banks of Binjiang Forest Park in the Pudong New Area, where they helped to clean up the debris brought by the Typhoon In-fa.
In the early morning, people gathered at the entrance of the park orderly to take their tools including gloves and spades. Shanghai Roots & Shoots also brought them knowledge about ocean debris: how do they emerge and how can we clean the debris on the bank with safety?

After the great effort of the volunteers of Shanghai Roots & Shoots, more than 30 packages of ocean debris were cleared, with a weight of about 750 kg. Moreover, during the whole day, a total of 15 tons of garbage were cleared, including 14,750 kg of dry garbage and 450 kg recyclable garbage, filled with nearly 15 bags.

Such a fruitful outcome cannot be achieved without the support from companies and universities and the participation of youth volunteers. Every small action could make a change.
