2022 SHANGHAI ROOTS & SHOOTS Online Festival Successfully Held

On December 17, 2022, the 20th ROOTS & SHOOTS FESTIVAL, Shanghai R&S held an awarding ceremony online via Weibo to recap the highlights of the 2022 Shanghai R&S’ sustainable programs and announced the annual awards, sharing the achievements of the year with everyone!

OUTSTANDING VOLUNTEER AWARD

• Cui Xin—YES Program Volunteer

For four consecutive semesters, she actively organized environmental actions for the students of SFLS, as well as guiding them to design their own related topic courses online and offline. She is very popular among middle and high school students.

• Fang Jinqi—Volunteer for the International Gibbon Day Campaign

For two consecutive years, she participated in series of activities on the International Gibbon Day actively, supported the R&S environmental education courses in schools, and her works of enrichment were used in the primate zone of the Shanghai Zoo for a long time.

• Zhu Xiaowen—Volunteer of the KidStrong Program

She actively held glasses fitting activity cooperated with the KidStrong Program, and undertook some important works of checking vision for students in three schools. During her volunteering time, she worked hard and demonstrated strong organizational and operational strength, who was loved by children.

• Xie Bing—Volunteer of the Organic Garden Program

For two consecutive years, she actively participated in Organic Garden Program, giving enthusiastic feedback and willing to share what she gained from activities. At the same time, as a volunteer of the Organic Garden Program, she walked into school to lead children to build their own school farm, which is highly praised by teachers and students.

OUTSTANDING TEACHER ADVISOR AWARD

• Guan Lijuan—Club Advisor

Ms. Guan, as a teacher advisor of the R&S Club at her school, has been actively supporting R&S projects. She led students to conduct awareness campaigns on the International Gibbon Day and make toys of enrichment, which have received excellent awards for two consecutive years.

• Chen Feng—KidStrong Volunteer

Ms. Chen is the teacher in charge of coordinating activities of the KidStrong Program in the Tangwan Elementary School. Having cooperated with the KidStrong Program for many years, She is always promoting and organizing various activities of the KidStrong Program in her school actively, ensuring activities are carried as effectively as possible.

• Chen Yajun—Club Advisor

As a teacher advisor of the R&S Club conducting the Organic Garden Program, Ms. Chen actively supported the development of this program in her school. After three years of hard work, the organic farm called Hong Yuan in the Senior High School Affiliated to USST has come alive from scratch.

OUTSTANDING GROUP AWARD

• Shanghai Jiaotong University, School of Life Sciences and Biotechnology

Assisted Shanghai R&S with the translation of several press releases and accumulated over 50 hours of service. Actively participated in the SHANGHAI R&S YOUTH LEADERSHIP TRAINING and persistently participated in R&S online activities.

• Shanghai Polytechnic University, Xiyuan Club

The club completed three challenges on the R&S Festival and actively participated in the SHANGHAI R&S YOUTH LEADERSHIP TRAINING. The club keep building the R&S Club and attracting new members. They persisted in participating in every R&S activity even in the midst of the epidemic, cherishing every encounter with each other.

• Shanghai Singapore International School

With extraordinary perseverance and efforts during the epidemic, they overcame many difficulties to raise money for the Million Tree Project, fully demonstrating the spirit and charm of teamwork.

• Shanghai University of Medicine & Health Sciences, Yuanwang Haiyang Club

Under the leadership of its new president, the club has been continuously developing and participating in the SHANGHAI R&S YOUTH LEADERSHIP TRAINING for three years, which became the club with the most members in this year’s training to get more valuable youth!

Congratulations to all above Award-winning individuals and schools clubs! In 2022, Shanghai R&S also prepared various special activities and trains for school clubs, aiming to stimulate the action and centripetal force for today’s youth with unique forms!
