MTP | Donation Ceremony Was Successfully Held at SHSID
Jun.7.2018
May 31, 2018, Shanghai Roots & Shoots staff were invited to attend the 2018 Students’ Forest Donation Ceremony at the Pudong campus of Shanghai High School International Division (SHSID). The donation raised by the students will support the Million Tree Project, whose aim is to arouse public awareness of environmental protection by decreasing the negative impact from desertification.
It was the second fund-raising campaign in this school for the 2,500 Shrub Challenge. The two students’ campaigns totally achieved a fund for 2,690 bushes that will be planted in Ningxia in 2018. The school students now can name their own forest, which exited everybody on campus. The students and the teachers said that they would keep on their contribution to environmental protection and will make an effort for a greener future together with Shanghai Roots & Shoots.
After the ceremony, the MTP team members from Shanghai Roots & Shoots (SRS) gave a face-to-face talk to the teachers and the students introducing the project progress and ecological achievement in the past decade. The SHSID students thus had a more profound understanding about desertification and ecological recovery. The school representatives also handed in the donation to SRS and proudly got awarded.
According to the annual project report of 2017, the Million Tree Project had planted 2,134,092 trees by the end of 2017, which proved people’s stronger and stronger awareness of environmental protection. We will continue our efforts on ecological recovery in decertified areas, and one day the lands will get green again.
