Paint Your Dream, Protect Our Earth

This past Father’s Day, June 16^th, new green partner Coco-Mat held a Pot-a-Plant, Plant-a-Tree fundraiser with the Million Tree Project.  To give back to the community, the eco-home furnishing store provided Shanghai and Beijing residents with two days of fun painting, planting, and raising trees to fight desertification and climate change.

Beijing Event

Each colorful pot purchased by children and their families cost only 30RMB; and R&S volunteers came out to help people draw environmental messages and pictures on the pots to tell others what they love most about the natural world.  Designs included some stunning horses, panda bears, flowers, trees, and more!  Kids from one to ten years were running around with markers, designing pots and occasionally the tables.

Shanghai Event

Despite the day being a Shanghai scorcher under the bright sun, the Kerry Parkside came alive with drawing, digging, planting, splashing, a Rhapsody music festival, and a garage sale featuring stores and residents from the Kerry Centre.  The crowd was great, and all together between Beijing’s June 1^st event and Shanghai’s June 16^th event, Coco-Mat raised 115 trees to plant with the Million Tree Project. At the end of the day, each family brought their plant home as a symbol, to watch it grow while their tree in Inner Mongolia also grows up.
