Shanghai Roots & Shoots Young Journalists First Training
On June 18th, in the Shanghai Roots & Shoots Office, ICS journalists and graduates majoring in journalism from Shanghai Fudan University gave elementary training to fourteen Shanghai Roots & Shoots Young Journalists.
During the training, professional journalists Yang Wei and Wu Dongping, using their personal experience, instructed us on the difference between media script and news scripts, composition structures, the key values of news, photography skills, and interview skills. The three-hour long training was very rewarding for us Young Journalists. We learned a lot regarding interviewing and photography. Jin Qi from Southwest Weiyu Middle School said, “I didn’t know how to write a news script. I now know how after the training. I know what to be careful of. I feel that I’ve learnt a lot.”
Roots & Shoots established Youth Journalists group in 2011 in the hope of promoting initiatives in youth and capturing the world from their perspectives. Currently, the group includes 26 students from 6 schools. Youth Journalists have actively participated in various activities of R&S and have provided multiple news scripts and photos for the organization.
