WuTongShu丨A Story from the Wu Tong Shu Program
Aug.25.2016
Today we would like to share with you a story that happened in Anhui about a primary school headmaster Mr Qi and his students. After reading this story, we hope that you may consider offering a helping hand to realize their dream.
Qi Jiachuan lives in Yangshan Village located in the mountains of Tiantang Zhai Township. Tiantang Zhai, famous for its beautiful scenery means “paradise” in Chinese. The only school in Yangshan Village was built in the late 1970s. After years of wear and tear, the school buildings were getting too old to use.
In the 1990s, volunteers from R&S started to coming to Yangshan Village School, donating tuition fees, uniforms, chairs and desks. R&S also raised funds to build a toilet and a playground for the students and teachers. As the school headmaster, Mr. Qi has one wish. He hopes to have a new school building for classrooms and teachers’ dorm-rooms so that younger teachers will want to work in the school.
The 137 volunteers who have participated in the program in the previous years initiated a fundraising campaign to raise money for the new school building. The goal is to raise 150000 RMB.
