Organic Garden Training – 2011 Spring

Mar.1.2011

In March of 2011, twenty four Shanghai Roots & Shoots volunteers organized the first Organic Garden training.

That day, something in the air, the animals, the workers, and the environment left us all with a lasting impression.

The training included various activities: stories on the field, my dream farm, the life of a cow, spot the difference, earthworm compost, insect combat, and a themed project-sharing exercise.

Here, the volunteers are sharing the life of a cow. Through this little game, the participants came to understand the importance of organic products.

Under the guidance of Mr. Xiao Zhu, the volunteers began playing Spotting the Difference, where they identified the characteristics of organic products.

After lunch, volunteers began to learn how to keep earthworms. For organic farms, earthworms are extremely important.

The  insect combat game helped them understand how to avoid harmful insects.

And of course, how could they miss this opportunity to farm?

At 4 in the afternoon the volunteers, filled with all sorts of new knowledge, departed.

We would like to give thanks to every volunteer, and also wish you a smooth semester. For organic living, for the environment, for the world, together we will work to move forward.
