KidStrong | Sanofi Vision Care Education

On June 12^th 2018, volunteers from Sanofi went to Lianying Migrant School in Pudong District. They shared knowledge of vision care with 198 students from the 3^rd, 4^th, and 5^th grades.

This vision care education activity aims at teaching students proper eye exercises at accurate acupuncture points. Therefore, the students could protect their own vision through correct eye exercises.

The volunteers had studied and practiced the eye exercises before they taught, so they could provide students with hands-on knowledge. During the activity, the Sanofi volunteers first demonstrated the acupuncture points and performed the eye exercises in front of the students. Then, they asked the students to do the eye exercises themselves and corrected them.

After the activity, the students gave positive feedback and said that they found it very helpful. One 3^rd grader says, “I like the class taught by these teachers because they corrected our wrong gestures. And the teachers are humorous, so I enjoyed this class very much.” One student from the 4^th grade said, “I like eye protection class because we can see this world more clearly through protecting our eyes. Doing eye exercises protects our eyes and also we can protect the earth’s eyes.”

The Sanofi volunteers also consider this activity to be rewarding, “Some students asked ‘why many students do not like to do eye exercises’, ‘why some students open their eyes when they do eye exercises’. The answers that we gave may not be perfect, but we feel that every student had a good understanding on eye protection and they tried to find the correct answers on their own. What they need is guidance and encouragement from us adults. I want to thank every child for their shining smile and wish they all grow happily and healthily!,” said volunteer Hu Xufeng.
