The Walt Disney Earth Month

The World Earth Day is a festival for everybody to take green actions and save the planet. Caring for our earth is part of Disney’s gene, which is also Shanghai Roots & Shoots’ mission. Thus, the Walt Disney Company celebrates its Earth Month in each April.
April 11, 2015, Shanghai – The Disney volunEARs and their family members came to the Shanghai Zoo to make enrichment toys for the chimpanzees. First of all, the voluntEARs had an ice-breaker game, which was called the “Story of the Forest”. Then the voluntEARs should finish three tasks on site: Task 1 – make one enrichment toy, Task 2 – find 4 different animals (herbivore, carnivore, bird and primates) and take photos with these animals, and Task 3 – answer four interesting questions about the animals.
April 22, 2015, Wuhan – This year, Disney volunEARs came to Wuhan, participated in the “Community Garden Project” of Shanghai Roots & Shoots and established a pretty garden in a local community – Xinhejie Community. The Disney volunEARs, along with the residents, planted begonias, modon grass and garden balsam in the community garden. They also composed the flowers into a “Love the Earth” pattern to express their profound love to our mother earth.
April 22, 2015, Shanghai – 30 Disney volunEARs and 141 of our migrant students from Maqiao Primary School painted the Mother Earth in green. First, the voluntEARs lectured some interesting English courses on waste management and global ecology. Then, they led the children to plant some leaf-greens into cute pots and paint on the earth in flowerish colours.
