Job Summary
The education program coordinator for Shanghai Roots & Shoots will be a bilingual individual with ability to promote and coordinate education programs. This person will manage all-year round indoor and outdoor educational activities, train the volunteers, develop the related materials, promote the concepts and vision of Shanghai Roots & Shoots and work with students of all ages, adult and student volunteers.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Coordinate and promote the environmental education programs in schools;
- Recruit and train volunteers to deliver and support the indoor and outdoor educational activities both at school and at the parks in Shanghai;
- Work with school teacher advisors to facilitate field trips and collect the feedback;
- Communicate closely with the sponsor community relations team to ensure that the learning activities are carried out smoothly and that cooperate volunteers are actively involved.
- Purchase and manage the program educational materials;
- Monitor and ensure students attendance and representation in the program;
- Pay school visits to meet and interview students and teachers when necessary;
- Collect program feedback and pictures, evaluate the program performance, and compile reports;
- Report to Director of Youth for Environmental Sustainability;
- Other duties as assigned by Director of Youth for Environmental Sustainability.
Requirements
- Minimum of 3-5 years’ experience in responsible positions relevant to education or biology/ecosystem;
- University degree in biology, ecosystem, environmental related fields;
- Excellent inter-personal skills, including ability to transfer skills and network;
- Proficiency in written and verbal communication skills in Mandarin and English;
- Excellent understanding of environmental education and practice;
- Experience in an education organization or NGO is an advantage;
- Understanding of Roots & Shoots work in China is a plus;
- Self-motivated and innovative; able to work under pressure with a team of people and meet deadlines.
