EVENT DETAILS:
“Notebooks about Hope” is our New Year charity project. At the end of every semester, there are always many notebooks left unused, which are usually thrown away and wasted. However, there are many children in poverty-stricken areas who don’t have decent writing materials to pursue a proper education. So,we searched for an address in Zhenxiong County, in Yunnan Province for a book donation. After confirming, we promoted our project throughout our campus, urging everyone to donate unused notebooks and write some encouraging words on the cover page of the notebooks (or leave a mailing address if they wanted). This new year’s gift to the children in Yunnan carried not only material help, but also hope.We collected notebooks from late December to early January. We received more than a hundred notebooks, which filled a whole suitcase. The notebooks were mailed on January 10, 2015, and were received January 23.We are quite satisfied with the development and outcome of the project. The only drawback is we can’t receive feedback from the children in the remote area and the notebooks weren’t sent directly to the school, but to a volunteer team.Hopefully, we can carry out this project every semester.
